If you relentlessly pursue your dreams, they will come true. A motivational phrase that Sami Zayn can certify as true. After more than a decade of bad luck, the Canadian finally has managed to conquer his first world championship in WWE. Zayn achieved this last night by defeating Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a triple threat match in the main event of Night of Champions.

The match was full of ups and downs for the three wrestlers. Sami had almost unanimous support from the Saudi audience, who cheered him on throughout the entire match. Zayn not only had great opportunities to win, but also had to resort to less orthodox methods (like removing the referee from the ring) to prevent either of his two opponents from taking the coveted victory.

In the final moments of the match, Sami prevented the arm of an unconscious Cody, trapped in a Gunther sleeperhold, from touching the mat. The Austrian released the champion to attack Zayn, but it was Zayn who almost secured the victory with a Helluva Kick. A recovered Cody joined the fray in a heart-stopping finale. "The American Nightmare" caught Gunther, who in turn had Sami in a sleeperhold, to apply a Cross Rhodes on both. Cody then prepared to repeat the finisher on the Canadian, but Zayn reversed it into an unexpected roll-up to seal a historic victory.

Thus, Zayn wins his first Undisputed WWE Championship. This is Sami's tenth title as a WWE superstar, and the only one he was missing to become a Grand Slam Champion. With his victory, the Canadian also ends Cody's third reign, the shortest of all with 113 days.
