This afternoon we reported that Eric Young has left TNA Wrestling. According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select, it was Young himself who requested his departure. Now, a new report from the outlet reveals that the Canadian could be returning to WWE, the company he worked for from 2016 to 2020.
"Eric Young had been working at TNA for a long time without a contract, although relatively recently he had signed a short-term agreement. These types of short-term contracts had become the norm within the company," the outlet wrote.
"Young has always maintained a good relationship with Triple H, and WWE sources have long indicated that the doors for his return remain open. Triple H never wanted Eric Young to leave WWE in the first place, but when the wrestler learned that Vince McMahon had become involved in the company again a few years ago, he decided to request his release. WWE sources consulted were expecting him to return to the company, although it was not clear what his exact role would be."
"When he re-signed with WWE a few years ago, he never actually left his house to perform any duties with the company while under contract. Additionally, he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) when he was released," the report concluded.
Young himself explained at the time the reasons that led him to leave WWE shortly after signing with the company at the end of 2022. The wrestler returned to the company to work under Triple H's orders, but the unexpected return of Vince McMahon made him reconsider.
"I signed up for one thing and it turned into something completely different. Personally, professionally, and, most importantly for me, morally, I couldn't continue working there. If you're a fan of wrestling and you know what's going on, it wasn't a very difficult decision for me, to be honest. It was a dream come true, to return, the contract was fantastic and everything else, and what I was prepared to do on the TV show was excellent, but in the end, I would have had to answer to someone that I'm simply not willing to do," Young said in an interview for PWInsider.
"That's where we are now. I'm not angry or bitter about it, as I wasn't last time. Obviously, it's a big mistake on one person's part, but a big gain for IMPACT Wrestling. I'm still very good at this and it's something I'm passionate about and work tirelessly to get the best possible outcome in everything I'm involved in."
